Financial Aid & Scholarships

Financial aid is handled through the MSU Office of Financial Aid (OFA). Submit your financial aid application (FAFSA) as soon as possible after October 1st. Once the OFA receives your FAFSA, you can talk with staff about a prospective financial aid offer. The OFA starts awarding financial aid for which you are eligible in mid-March. Award notifications are sent by email to your MSU email account.

For financial aid information, please visit our Financial Aid page or the MSU Health Professions Financial Aid and AAMC FIRST (Financial Information, Resources, Services, and Tools) for Students and Applicants websites.

Scholarships

The CHM Office of Admissions scholarship application process for the next incoming class will begin in March with deadlines in April. Award notifications will be sent out soon thereafter.

  • If the armed forces have awarded you a scholarship (i.e. Health Professions Scholarship Program) to attend medical school or you are seriously thinking of applying for one of these scholarships, please note that the military expects you to complete an officer orientation course early in your medical school experience. This orientation is usually conducted only during the summer and is about six weeks long. In many cases, the military prefers that you attend this officer orientation course during the summer before you matriculate. Those who have this obligation and who do not complete the training prior to matriculation will need to complete it during the summer after your second year.
