White Coat Ceremony: August 17, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the DeVos Performance Hall (Grand Rapids)
The White Coat Ceremony marks the official entrance into the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. All 190 (approximately) students will be “coated” with their first official white coat.

Personal Identification (EMPLID) Number and Personal Access Number (PAN)
All students receive a EMPLID and PAN upon admission to the university.
These numbers are needed to activate your MSU NetID and MSU email account. You will receive this information as an email from Central Admissions.
MSU Net ID and Email Account
When you receive your EMPLID and PAN numbers, you must activate your MSU NetID and MSU email account.
Your MSU NetID gives you access to online resources and the electronic mail system (@msu.edu) at Michigan State University. There is a deadline to activate your MSU Net ID, which will be given by OSAS via email. Go to Activating Your MSU NetID for detailed information on activation. When your MSU email address is established, update your email address with AMCAS, as much of the information for entering students is sent using the AMCAS system.
When your MSU NetID has been activated, your @msu.edu address will automatically be added to the entering class listserv. Check your email frequently so you do not miss critical information. All listserv email will be sent to your MSU email account only.

System Requierments Necessary for an NBME web-based examination
Federal regulations require MSU to publicly disclose, for each educational program designed to meet the educational requirements for a specific professional license or certification required for employment in an occupation (or advertised as meeting those requirements), information about whether program completion would meet those requirements in a state. These public disclosure requirements apply to all programs, regardless of their modality (i.e., on-ground, online, and hybrid programs). MSU discloses the required information for its Doctor of Medicine (MD) Physician License on pages 51-52 of the table at this Professional Licensure and Certification Document.
All current and prospective students are encouraged to contact the applicable professional licensure/certification boards in their respective states for additional information regarding professional licensure/certification requirements, including, without limitation, information regarding any non-educational requirements (such as work experience, background clearance, or examination by outside entities, such as bar examinations).
The information in the table should not be construed as guaranteeing that any particular professional licensure/certification authority will approve a student’s application; nor should the information in the table be read to imply that other requirements for professional licensure/certification do not exist or that other requirements for professional licensure/certification have been determined to have been met by MSU’s program/course, or that any necessary approvals for clinical or other experiential learning placements are secured by virtue of a student’s enrollment at MSU.
State professional licensure/certification requirements are subject to change at any time.
Please see here for licensing board contact information and approval status.
If you need assistance or have any questions, please contact your academic advisor.
