Directions to the Life Sciences Building

CAMPUS CONSTRUCTION ALERT!!! The Farm Lane and Service Road intersection will close as of Friday, March 28. Service Road will be closed from the Laundry Building parking lot (Lot 88) on the west to the Lewis Landscape Arboretum parking lot (Lot 101) on the east. This means that anyone coming to CHM using the Trowbridge Road exit (exit 9) off I-496 will have to find an alternate route to the Life Sciences Building. Detour routes will be posted, using the following roads in and around campus: Harrison Road, Mount Hope Road, Hagadorn Road, Wilson Road, Bogue Street, Red Cedar Road, Trowbridge Road and Shaw Lane. Farm Lane from Trowbridge Road to Wilson Road will remain open until mid- to late- June 2008, and then close until August 2009. Farm Lane and the affected stretch of Service Road will reopen in summer 2009. Please allow plenty of extra time when coming for your Interview Day, as detour routes are very heavily traveled and traffic will likely be moving very slowly. From Ann Arbor (63 miles)

Take US-23 north to I-96 west. Exit I-496/US-127 north (exit 106B). Exit Trowbridge Road (exit 9). At Harrison Road (first light), turn right onto Service Road. After crossing one set of railroad tracks, turn left (east) onto Service Road (first light). Cross Farm Lane and Bogue Street. The Life Sciences Building is the first building past Bogue Street on the south (right) side. Park in Visitor Parking Lot #100, located in front of the Radiology Building, two buildings east of the Life Sciences Building.

From Detroit (85 miles)

Take I-96 west to I-496/US-127 north, exit 106B. Exit Trowbridge Road (exit 9). At Harrison Road (first light), turn right onto Service Road (first light). After crossing one set of railroad tracks, turn left (east) onto Service Road (first light). Cross Farm Lane and Bogue Street. The Life Sciences Building is the first building past Bogue Street on the south (right) side. Park in Visitor Parking Lot #100, located in front of the Radiology Building, two buildings east of the Life Sciences Building.

From Flint (50 miles)

Take I-69 west to exit 94 (East Lansing exit). Turn left (south) onto Hagadorn Road. Take Hagadorn Road approximately four miles south to Service Road (cross Burcham Street and Grand River Avenue). After crossing railroad tracks, turn right (west) onto Service Road. The Life Sciences Building is the third building on the left (south) side. Park in Visitor Parking Lot #100, located in front of the Radiology Building, two buildings east of the Life Sciences Building.

From Grand Rapids (66 miles)

Take I-96 east to I-496 east (exit 95). Exit Trowbridge Road (exit 9). At Harrison Road (first light), turn right (south). After crossing one set of railroad tracks, turn left (east) onto Service Road (first light). Cross Farm Lane and Bogue Street. The Life Sciences Building is the first building past Bogue Street on the south (right) side. Park in Visitor Parking Lot #100, located in front of the Radiology Building, two buildings east of the Life Sciences Building.

From Jackson (32 miles)

Take US-127 north to Trowbridge Road (exit 9). At Harrison Road (first light), turn right (south). After crossing one set of railroad tracks, turn left (east) onto Service Road (first light). From Kalamazoo (75 miles)

Take I-94 east to I-69 north (exit 108). Exit I-496 east (exit 95). Exit Trowbridge Road (exit 9). At Harrison Road (first light), turn right (south). From Northern Michigan

Take US-127 south to Trowbridge Road (exit 9). At Harrison Road (first light), turn right (south). After crossing one set of railroad tracks, turn left (east) onto Service Road (first light). From Lansing's Capital City Airport (10 miles)

Exit the airport and turn right (west) onto Grand River Avenue. Turn left (south) on Waverly Road. Take Waverly Road south approximately four miles to I-496 east (cross West Saginaw Highway, Michigan Avenue, and West St. Joseph Highway). Take I-496 east to Trowbridge Road (exit 9). At Harrison Road (first light), turn right (south). After crossing one set of railroad tracks, turn left (east) onto Service Road (first light). Cross Farm Lane and Bogue Street. The Life Sciences Building is the first building past Bogue Street on the south (right) side. Park in Visitor Parking Lot #100, located in front of the Radiology Building, two buildings east of the Life Sciences Building.

From Detroit Metro Airport (88 miles)

Take I-94 west to I-275 north. Exit I-96 west. Take I-96. Exit I-496/US-127 north (exit 106B). Exit Trowbridge Road (exit 9). At Harrison Road (first light), turn right (south). After crossing one set of railroad tracks, turn left (east) onto Service Road (first light). Cross Farm Lane and Bogue Street. Parking while Visiting the College of Human Medicine

Parking is available in Visitor Parking Lot #100, located in front of the Radiology Building, two buildings east of the Life Sciences Building. See map below.

There are two entrances into Lot 100: one is located at the northeast corner of the lot, directly off Service Road. The other is on the west side of the lot, accessed from the drive leading to the Radiology Building.  Click here for driving directions to the Life Sciences Building and Lot #100. Click here for a map of the entire campus. Don't forget to bring the ticket you receive when entering the lot so we can validate it.

Do not park in the gated Patient Lot in front of the MSU Clinical Center, the building located between the Life Sciences Building and the Radiology Building. This lot requires a parking token to exit and the Office of Admissions does not have tokens available.

After parking in Lot #100, walk to the Life Sciences Building and enter through the door on the north side of the building. The Office of Admissions is located in A-239, on the second floor.

Airports and Amtrak

Lansing Capital City Airport (LAN) is the closest airport to the College of Human Medicine (approx 13 miles). Other options include Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW - approx 85 miles), Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids (GFIA - approx 67 miles), or Bishop International Airport Authority in Flint (FNT - approx 45 miles).

Before making arrangments with any of the transportation services below, check with your hotel to see if they offer complimentary shuttle service from the Capital City Airport.

Another option is to take Amtrak directly to East Lansing. The station is located on the southwest corner of campus.

Area Transportation Service

If you're flying into Detroit Metro Airport rather than Lansing Capitol City Airport, you may want to take the Michigan Flyer to East Lansing. The Michigan Flyer provides service from Detroit Metro to East Lansing for $25 each way. Visit their website for details and a schedule.
